Laboratory
ELECTRICAL MACHINES LAB
The main objective of the DC machines lab is to expose the students to various types of Electrical machines and impart knowledge on construction, principle of operation and performance characteristics of the Electrical machine. UG students from Electrical and Electronics Engineering department are given practical exposure to Electrical machines lab from second year of their course. Various experiments such as OCC test, load test, short circuit test, speed control, regulation tests are conducted on DC generators, DC motors and transformers to gain knowledge on performance characteristics, internal and external characteristics, efficiency, and different types of losses, regulation and equivalent circuit parameters of the electrical machines. Moreover, students from Civil, Computer science, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication Engineering departments in the first year of their course make use of the facility to gain the practical knowledge on basics of electrical engineering.
The AC Electrical Machines Laboratory is well equipped with various Electrical Machines namely Three Phase Squirrel Cage Induction Motors, DC machine coupled Three Phase Alternators, Three phase Synchronous Motors, Slip Ring Induction Motors, Single Phase Induction Motors, and AC Commutator Motor. It has single-phase and three phase auto transformers, suitable starters and loading arrangements for machines, measuring instruments of all types needed for the laboratory experiments. The Electrical Machines Laboratory is utilized by all branches of students for lab work and Electrical students for their project work and for doing research. This lab provides good infrastructure for the students to acquire practical knowledge on electrical machines.
POWER ELECTRONICS LAB
Power electronics is a branch of electrical engineering that is concerned with conversion and control of electrical power for various aplications such as lighting, heating control etc. This Laboratory is equipped with Single Phase and Three Phase AC to DC Converters, different types of DC-DC Choppers, Single Phase AC Voltage Controllers, Cyclo-converters, Single Phase and Three Phase Inverters. In addition to that the Post Graduate Students and Research Scholars utilize this Laboratory to carry out their project and research work respectively.
ELECTRICAL SIMULATION LAB
This laboratory is designed to give students hands-on experience on different equipment of various protection schemes in electrical power system. This laboratory facilitates the students to understand the basic concepts and recent trends in power system protection. The students can design and work with the concepts of digital and numerical relaying. The students would be skilled enough to work with various type of relaying schemes used for different apparatus protection in the laboratory. ENGINEERING PRACTICES LAB
The Basic Electrical Engineering Laboratory assists the students to impart with essential knowledge of electrical and electronic circuit design, analysis and provide hands on experience to design different electrical and electronic circuits with bread boards and with different active and passive components. This Lab gives the practical learning and use of various instruments like Multimeter, Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, Wattmeter’s etc. Along with this, they do practical verification of various electrical theorems, Tests on DC Machines and Transformer, measurement of power in three phase circuits using wattmeter etc.
C & I LAB
Control and Instrumentation Engineering Laboratory aims at the optimized utilization of the instrumentation facility with quality assurance of analytical and subsequent research outcomes. Control and Instrumentation Engineering Lab familiarizes the control and measurement of different process parameters like temperature, pressure, flow and level. Sophisticated trainer kit provided to the students to study about different real time control schemes and MATLAB simulation. The Lab consists of CRO, Power supply, Function Generator & various modules for the measurement of force, vibration and displacement measurement etc to improve their skills in this area.
