Red Ribbon Club(RRC)

Shree Venkateshwara Hi Tech Engineering College inaugurated Red Ribbon Club on 29-09-2011,
Thursday. In this function, G.P.kattimuthu, the joint secretary delivered the presidential
address. Mr.P.Senkootuvan, Anna University of technology Coimbatore PEO gave the
special address and delivered a lecture on the title of “Celebrating Life”. The
Principal of SVHEC, Dr.P.Thangavel, felicitated and gave the welcome address to
this function. Nearly 110 students and staff members participated and got benefited
by this function.

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) programme is a voluntary, on-campus intervention, aimed
at heightening the risk perception and preventing HIV among youth.
|
|
|
Red Ribbon Clubs have become a powerful medium to reach out to young people. Spearheaded
by the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS), with technical assistance
from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), USA, this programme is
supported by the Department of Higher Education and Department of Technical Education.

The RRCs empower students in the age group of 17-25, by giving them information
and life-skills to protect themselves from HIV/ AIDS and changes the most active
among them into peer educators.

Young minds are impressionable and reaching out to the youth can effect behavior
change.
